Dine Out for Somalia is a one day fundraising event to support drought and famine relief efforts in Somalia. The first dine out event took place April 7th, 2017 — inspired by community members who wanted to give back, spread awareness, and get others involved. The original goal was to raise over $100,000 to support relief efforts.
Most of the participating restaurant partners pledged and donated at least 50% of sales, with others donating as much as they can. The final result was $150,000 raised by 119 business partners and over 5,000 patrons eating across the state of Minnesota.
100% of all donations will go towards the American Relief Agency for the Horn of Africa (ARAHA), American Somali Relief Agency, Amoud Foundation, Arlaadi Aid, MN Community of African People with Disabilities, Humanitarian African Relief Organization, Read Horn of Africa USA, Somali-American Relief Organization, Somalia Rebuild Organization.
It's easy. Make a plan to eat out at one of the many participating restaurants. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Or all three. Make sure to invite all your friends and family too!
